Hey Ya’ll. I’m back!
I cannot begin to tell you how much of a great trip we had over the weekend. A long weekend was just what the doctor ordered for this chick. I’m starting a new position at work in the coming weeks and this is just what I needed to refresh and start new!
Today I’m recapping our first leg of the trip which started in Nashville, and actually ended there too. But more on that later 🙂
It took us about 11ish hours to drive from Maryland to Tennessee. We’ve done it before but it never gets any shorter! We had to stop in Nashville before heading to Lynchburg (Jack Daniels Distillery) because I had to pick up my race packet for the half marathon that afternoon.
We arrived in Nashville around 730a and obviously needed food in the worst way so I told Danny to start Googling and he found this really neat place right downtown called Puckett’s. I wanted to try new places this time around and this did not disappoint!
It was this really neat restaurant that certainly delivered in the food department. And my view wasn’t too bad either 🙂
I ordered the Smoked Brisket Hash Waffle that was SO good. It had sweet potatoes, peppers, onions and of course smoked brisket that was topped with a fried egg. Wait it gets better…and it was on top of a cornbread waffle. OUT OF THIS FREAKING WORLD. Plus I liked that it wasn’t too much food. Just the right amount.
Danny got peanut butter banana stuffed french toast. And yes it was even more incredible than the picture.
After breakfast we headed down to the river to walk around. Unfortunately the weather in Tennessee this weekend wasn’t ideal but we made the best of it. It was so off and on.
As I have mentioned before Danny really enjoys going to auctions, estate sales etc to find things to buy/sell. Naturally one of his favorite shows is American Pickers and their shop, Antique Archaeology is in downtown Nashville. We have been there before but since we had like 5 hours to kill we checked it out anyway.
See the difference in the sky between the pictures by the river and the above pictures? I swear this was just a matter of about 30 minutes! Who knows how to dress for weather like this!!
This is the building that the shop is located in. I love old buildings like this!
Of course we couldn’t come to Nashville and not see this at some point.
Finally we got my race packet and were headed to Danny’s favorite place on earth…THE Jack Daniel’s Distillery. More on that tomorrow 🙂
