I have one favorite for the week:
12 Signs You’re Actually Killing It In Your 20s
1. You have a job
I do! I’ve been in 3 different positions since I graduated college 3 years ago. 2 companies, 3 different positions. At one point, I was like why in the world can’t I find a job where I’m not mind numbingly bored all the time. What am I doing wrong? Then I realized that I was in my early 20’s and I was not expected to know EXACTLY what I wanted to do the rest of my life. Hey, if you knew what you wanted to be right out of college, then great for you. Not me. And I’m perfectly okay with that.
2. You can turn your lights on
My electric bill gets paid every month, it’s never been shut off, and for that I should be very lucky.
3. You’ve been through some crap
I’ve seen the inside of hospitals and funeral homes far more times than anyone should at the age of 25. Heck, by the time I was 13 I had already been to two funerals for both my mom and step-mom. I went through a period of time when I felt really alone, unsure of why I was placed in these situations. I asked “Why me?” and then realized that it ultimately made me alot stronger emotionally. I had to move on and live my life solely because my mom spent her entire time as a mother trying to make my life the best she could, even through her own struggles.
4. You have hobbies
I blog, I cook, I read, I snuggle with my dogs.
Does life really need much else?
5. You eat fresh food
The day’s of microwave Easy Mac are over. I try and make a healthy meal every night of the week but ya know, I’m human and sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Not the end of the world.
6. You have your own space
I bought a house last year. At 24 years old, I was a homeowner. I feel truly blessed that I’ve created this home with the one I love.
7. You can travel
See above 🙂 But really, I’ve been really lucky with the amount that I’ve been able to travel. My grandparents sent me on two school led trips to Europe growing up.
8. People listen to you
My dog listens to me sometimes
9. You’re wiser
I reached the point in my life when I graduated college where getting blacked out on a Thursday wasn’t a good idea anymore. Or ever. That makes me wiser, right?
10. You can take care of yourself
I generally don’t have a lingering stench or have dust clouds following me. Anyone picturing Pig Pen right now?
11. You have a goal
Be happy. Get married. Be a mom.
12. You’ve chilled out
I could really care less about the majority of BS around me. I’ve got better things to worry about than your petty issues.
If you have a chance, read the article. It definitely puts things into perspective.
Hope ya’ll have a great weekend! Happy Friday 🙂
